About David Day
Formed in the encounter tradition.
I served as Executive Director of Carl Rogers' Center for Studies of the Person in La Jolla, and for fifteen years have facilitated groups through its La Jolla Program with Dr. Will Stillwell, one of the Center's founders.
Research on encounter groups found that the safest and most effective leaders were caring and helped members make sense of what happened. That is how I was trained, and how I work.
How I lead
No agenda and no exercises. I work as a mirror, reflecting a person's experience back to them, and from the skybox, looking at what is happening between us.
I am a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I came to this work after a first career in business, where I learned that competence is not the same as presence.
